Year 12 Students Successfully Complete Drive iQ Training Programme

Current year 12 students have recently taken part and successfully completed a driver safety programme, called Driver iQ.

The students who are at an age where driving is an integral part of their lives complete an online brain training programme which prepares and supports new drivers as they embark on in-car lessons. Students get an idea of what it’s like to drive with high-definition footage of actual cockpit situations. This can allow for the simulation of driving in town, in the country, in all conditions and allows for a broadening of experience in total safety. The programme covers key topics such as driving awareness, detecting hazard, coping with distractions, improving observations, avoiding crashes.

Students are certified on successful completion of the programme and this is followed up in Year 13, when students attend the ‘Learn 2 Live’ event. The programme is coordinated by Sixth Form tutor, Mr Barnes, who commented ‘A massive well done to those who have benefited so far from this programme and we look forward to future success as well’.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Yendell added ‘It is really important that we continue to offer these opportunities for our young students to engage in, to support them in ensuring they increase their awareness of key issues that they will be faced with in the next few years of their lives. We take great pride in ensuring we continue to develop each individual within the Sixth Form with their academic progress but also other their progress as a person. Well done to all the Year 12's who have engaged, completed and hopefully learnt from this experience’.
